The AFVC is a "space available" program offering Department of Defense affiliated personnel affordable condominium vacations at over 3,500 resorts around the world.

The US Army Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) maintains a list of commercial hotels and resorts that offer substantial discounts to military personnel for prepaid lodging.

Disabled Veteran's Rest Camp of Minnesota (Marine on St. Croix)

The camp started as a local farm which was donated to the Disabled Veterans of WWI.  It was incorporated in 1926.  Originally with the main farm house was converted to a dormitory type of rooming house for the shell shocked veterans.  Several of the existing cabins were the quarters for the ground manager and staff.  The Camp was Incorporated as The Disabled American Veterans Rest Camp. The priority of service going to the service connected disabled American Service Men and Women, and open to all Veterans of military of the United States.

Hunting and Fishing

Special rules and exceptions exist for hunting and fishing by military personnel and veterans. Most rates are free to disabled veterans. In some cases, members on "active duty" aren't required to have a license.

Military Lodging

Temporary, space-available lodging at military installations can offer great value and convenience when you're traveling. Remember that on-base lodging is also offered to all Reserve and National Guard members. This includes any "gray area" reserve and guard retirees who have "retired" but have not reached age 60 and are not yet receiving a retirement check.

Veterans on the Lake Resort (Ely, MN)

Veterans on the Lake, is a not for profit organization will provide a barrier free setting for memorable outdoor recreation experience for disabled veterans, veterans, their families, friends and supporters. It is designed “with Veterans in Mind” while recognizing what they have contributed to and scarified for our nation.

Veterans on the Lake Resort, is situated on 25 acres of Superior National Forest land and 2,700 feet of shoreline. They have year around accessibility to the Tomahawk and Taconite Trails for snowmobiling and hiking enjoyment. They have dining facilities, gift and bait shop, sauna, and on site creation. Some cabins have wheelchair accessibility. Several cabins are available during the winter months.
