Become a Volunteer Driver for the VA / DAV Transportation Program at the Minneapolis VA Medical Center
One of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) organizations service to veterans programs that the organization is most proud of is the DAV / VA Transportation Program. In this program volunteer drivers representing the American Legion, DAV, MOPH and VFW, using DAV donated vans transport veterans from their homes to and from VA Medical Center appointments and the Minneapolis VAMC (Hospital). The DAV operates these vans within a 50 mile radius of the Minneapolis VAMC.
Volunteer drivers will be required to pass a medical evaluation and then be registered as a VA volunteer (which will be scheduled / handled at the DAV Transportation office at the VAMC). Drivers would report to the DAV office in the Minneapolis VAMC.
Volunteer drivers representing the various veterans’ organizations logged over 2.3 million miles in 2006 and volunteer over 80,000 hours. We need more volunteer drivers desperately…and volunteers can volunteer one or more days a week. If interest, call the DAV transportation office (Sheron) at (612) 467-2768.
Many veterans depend on generous volunteers to get them to the medical attention they need… Please help… become a volunteer driver.
