Defense Alliance of Minnesota
The goal is to nurture and expand Minnesota’s defense industry job base and further promote the state’s important contributions to the Nation’s defense.
Employer Support for the Guard and Reserve (ESGR)
Employer Support for the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) is a Department of Defense organization. It is a staff group within the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Reserve Affairs (OASD/RA), which is in itself a part of the Office of the Secretary of Defense. ESGR was established in 1972 to promote cooperation and understanding between Reserve component members and their civilian employers and to assist in the resolution of conflicts arising from an employee's military commitment. It is the lead DoD organization for this mission under DoD Directive 1250.1.
Minnesota Business Finance Corporation (MBFC)
A Certified Development Company authorized by the U.S. Small Business Administration to originate and service SBA 504 loans. The SBA 504 loan program is "the money that makes America work." As a nonprofit CDC, MBFC, a member of the National Association of Development Companies (NADCO), promotes economic development throughout Minnesota.
Military Reservist Economic Injury Disaster Loan (MREIDL)
Small Businesses that are owned by military reservists (National Guard and Reserve Members) and/or small businesses that employ military reservists called to active duty may qualify for Military Reservist Economic Injury Disaster Loans (MREIDL).
Minnesota Initiative Foundations
Independent, nonprofit philanthropic organizations created by The McKnight Foundation in 1986 that work to make the six regions outside the metropolitan area stronger and more prosperous. Each foundation's priorities are decided by people in its own region, with grants and loans supporting economic development, leadership development, community building, and families, youth, and seniors. Minnesota Veterans Licensure and Certification Program
This MN Dept. of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) program tracks many business opportunities available to businesses who hire / employ veterans and veterans interested in self-employment.
National Veteran-Owned Business Association (NaVOBA)
Provides corporate and government supplier opportunities for the 3.6 million businesses owned by U.S. military veterans. NaVOBA creates the marketplace between veteran-owned businesses (VOBs) and corporate and government buyers.
Northeast Entrepreneur Fund
A nonprofit organization helping people in an 11-county region of northeast Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin. Our service area includes Aitkin, Carlton, Cass, Cook, Crow Wing, Itasca, Koochiching, Lake, Pine, and St. Louis counties in Minnesota and Douglas County, Wisconsin. The group assists to start, stabilize, or expand small businesses. Our services include individual consulting, classroom training, financing, and networking opportunities.
Patriot Express Pilot Loan Initiative
The U.S. Small Business Administration has announced the SBA’s Patriot Express Pilot Loan Initiative for veterans and members of the military community wanting to establish or expand small businesses.
Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization (OSDBU)
The U.S. Department of the Interior Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization program strives to improve and increase the Department's performance in utilizing small, small disadvantaged, HUBZone, women-owned, and veteran-owned businesses as contractors and subcontractors. Our various bureaus spend approximately 1.5 billion dollars a year in the private sector. Currently, more than 49 percent of those dollars go to small businesses, with 18 percent going to small disadvantaged business, 9.6 percent going to 8 (a); 9.7 percent going to HUBZones; 8 percent going to women-owned; and 1.5 going to service disabled veterans.
Small Business Innovation Research Program / Small Business Technology Transfer Program
The Small Business Innovation Research Program (SBIR) is to strengthen the role of innovative small businesses in Federally-funded research and research and development (R/R&D). The Small Business Technology Transfer Program (STTR) is to stimulate a partnership of ideas and technologies between innovative small businesses and research institutions
The Veterans Corporation
The National Veterans Business Development Corporation, doing business as The Veterans Corporation, is a Federally-chartered 501(c)(3) organization that was created by Public Law 106-50, the Veterans Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development Act of 1999. This Act recognized that America “has done too little to assist Veterans…in playing a greater role in the economy of the United States". The Corporation is charged with creating and enhancing entrepreneurial business opportunities for Veterans, including Service-Disabled Veterans.

A Veteran Resource Information web site designed to assist veteran entrepreneurs who want to start and expand their businesses in the Federal and private marketplace. This site provides up to the minute information from the Federal Government as it pertains to Service Disabled and Veteran Owned Small Businesses. The service is provided FREE to anyone who served in the active military, naval or air service, and who was discharged or released there from under conditions other than dishonorable.
Veterans Business Development
SBA's Office of Veterans Business Development (OVBD) is dedicated to serving the veteran entrepreneur by formulating, executing and promoting policies and programs of the agency that provides assistance to veterans seeking to start and develop small businesses. We are your resource partner!
Veterans' Business Outreach Center (VBOC)
Provides business training, counseling, technical assistance, and mentoring to Veterans, Reservist, National Guard, and Active Duty business owners and start-up candidates in the Southeast Region of the USA. This program is funded by the Small Business Administration to serve as a clearinghouse of business and technical assistance for those interested in starting or growing a business. Utilizing Small Business Administration partners such as the Small Business Development Centers, Service Corps or Retired Executives (SCORE), One Stop Capital Shops, and Business Information Centers across the eight-state region, we are able to assist individuals through each phase of their business development.
