MnSCU waives application fee for active duty members deployed overseas
At the April, 2007 Leadership Council meeting, system college and university presidents agreed to waive or not charge any future application fees for active duty military service members deployed overseas. Therefore, effective immediately for prospective applicants, we are asking all colleges and universities to waive or not charge an application fee to active duty military service members deployed overseas.

Governor's review and correction of impediments to veterans employment and education
February 7, 2006 - Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty signs Executive Order 06-02. This is a review and correction of State impediments to Veterans employment and education. Exemption from Fees and Renewal of Licenses, Certifications and Registrations for individuals and businesses
Minnesota Statutes 2005, section 326.56 provides for an exemption for persons in the armed forces who have renewable licenses, certifications and registrations related to employment, business and occupations in the State of Minnesota.
Military Commercial Drivers License (CDL) Waiver Information
May 17, 2005 - New Legislation Waives the Road Test for Veterans: Effective today military veterans have one less barrier to securing civilian employment in Minnesota. The bill, which was signed into law yesterday, relates to the acquisition of a Minnesota driver’s license by recently released U.S. military personnel. The legislation authorizes the waiver of road tests.
Classroom-on-Rails - State Grant Helps Train Plenty of Conductors
Two hundred outdoor enthusiasts and employees from a railroad consortium--Canadian Pacific Railways and Union Pacific--will receive conductor training, with a boost from a public-private training package. The Minnesota Job Skills Partnership--in a unique workforce-development partnership--has awarded Dakota County Technical College a $350,000 grant to provide entry-level training and retraining for conductors.
